As Google performs millions of web searches on the internet every hour for its users, they compile a somewhat gigantic collection of what users are searching for from all across the globe. Often when major events occur Google will log a massive increase in searches for related terms. One major example from 2009 was Michael Jackson. Following his death in June, the level of searches for news on him, and terms related to his name and music went ballistic.
